Growing up was not easy, I come from a middle-class family my parents taught me than if I want something I must work for it, so at a young age I would make wire cars, draw pictures and sell them to make extra money, so I ended up being introduced to a world of art by my neighbour because he saw that I was good with my hands, at the time I didn’t take it seriously all I wanted to do was play soccer.
But as I grew I became more interested in it, and told myself I want to do architecture as a profession but then I guess it’s true when they say we all have a pre-planned path planned by a higher power. In the beginning, I had no idea that there was such a career called jewellery design, which is why I applied for it as my last option on the application form when I was applying at university, turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made. After spending 3years at varsity learning the trade it was evident that I still needed advanced training as I could not meet the required standard required by the employer which was very frustrating because now I was sitting without work so I decided to try working on a few call centres because I wanted to survive.
It was a very traumatic experience because I saw that my life was going nowhere… that is when I got a phone call from a friend telling me about a training program at Pneuma jewellers, and that’s when my life began to change, I grabbed every opportunity that was given to me because the company encourages growth which is why today I am proud to call myself a Teacher, Goldsmith, Diamond setter, Qualified assessor, moderator, evaluator and Super artisan. The journey does not end here because every day comes with new possibilities and opportunities and I shall continue striving for excellence.
